Why we like the Samsung SmartThings Hub 3rd Generation

It’s finally here! Smart home gurus have been waiting for some time now to see an upgraded version of the popular Samsung SmartThings hub. This is one of the best smart home hubs that allow you to control zigbee and z-wave devices, while offering an easy to use interface. They have redesigned the outer look of the unit to look a little more “pebble” like. But the biggest change is that they now allow the unit to connect to your network wirelessly. This means that the SmartThings hub 3rd generation doesn’t need to be right next to your router anymore. This is a welcome addition to an already stellar smart home hub.

The Samsung SmartThings Hub 3rd Generation includes most common smart home integration protocols, including the aforementioned zigbee and z-wave plus. You will also be able to connect it to your Google Home or Amazon Alexa device for full voice control.

Extra features

The addition of wifi connection to your network is the biggest added extra feature here. But the unit also boasts an upgraded on-boarding process for new SmartThings users which is nice for those of us that are just dipping our toes in.
